Tree-cutting scam: Arrest warrant issued for US Embassy contractor

ISLAMABAD – Enforcement Directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA) has attained the arrest warrant of Project Manager working for US Embassy for his alleged involvement in cutting trees.

According to Diplomatic Enclave CDA officials, a construction firm (BL Harbert International) working in US Embassy in Islamabad is involved in cutting the trees illegally.

Directorate Forester Zamurad Khan, Forest Guard Imran Hussain Shah and Supervisor Khurram Shahzad had filed challans of Rs2.5m against US Embassy contractor on account of cutting trees illegally.

On this, embassy contractor denied co-operating, after that CDA Environment Directorate staff has got the arrest warrant of person who involved in this illegal cutting of trees.

CDA environment officials are of the view that the company working in US embassy was served a number of notices and fined but no company official heed attention or appeared before the CDA special magistrate, on which CDA magistrate issued the arrest warrant.

CDA Diplomatic officials told “Online” that another company (Pine Warehouse) working in US embassy also illegally using the land of CDA, and has not paid the rent since long.
