Honest filling station attendant hands back overpayment to customer in Karachi

KARACHI – A driver filled his vehicle’s fuel tank from a petrol pump in Karachi a few days ago, but left the filling station without collecting the remaining money from the attendant.

The customer was surprised when he visited the place after two days where the same employee returned the overpayment without asking any questions to confirm his identity as he had recognised him.

The story of honesty and fair dealing was shared by a social media user on Facebook, identifying the customer as Umair Qureshi. The car owner wrote that he went to the PSO filling station in F.B area in Karachi to get his fuel tank filled. He asked the attendant to fill petrol for Rs1,000 and then handed him a Rs5,000 currency note.

Qureshi said that he drove away without taking the money back from the worker. “Two days later when I realized that I did not get my Rs4,0000 back I went to that petrol pump and they handed me over my 4,000Rdwithout any questions,” he wrote.

He also gave a reward to the employee for his honesty, saying “ It is always good to see honest people working amongst our society”.

As the story was shared, the others users commended the employees for returning money to the rightful owner.
