Fire breaks out at office of IHC s Justice Shaukat Siddiqui

ISLAMABAD – The office of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in Islamabad High Court (IHC) caught fire after the UPS installed blasted on Tuesday.

The explosion caused a short circuit in the electrical wiring leading to fire in the staff room of the Justice Siddiqui. The record in the room remained safe as the fire was extinguished timely.

The judge, who heard several high profile cases, stayed unharmed as he was on a leave. The office has been closed for further investigation.

Siddiqui was elevated as additional judge of the high court on November 21, 2011 to represent the Province of Punjab.

In February, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) had issued a show-cause notice to the IHC judge over two different complaints, filed by MNA Jamshed Ahmad Dasti and Kulsum Khaliq, alleging that the judge had given unwarranted comments against army officials for playing their role in resolution of the Faizabad sit-in.
