Nawaz Sharif and daughter Maryam extend London visit as Kulsoom s condition continues to deteriorate

ISLAMABAD – Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam may extend their return to Pakistan as doctors have advised the former prime minister to spend more time with his ailing wife, Kulsoom Nawaz.

The ousted PM and his daughter, who are facing corruption trials, had left for London on Friday following the news of Kulsoom’s deteriorating health. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif also arrived in London today to see his ailing sister-in-law.

Today, Maryam Nawaz took to Twitter and announced that her mother’s condition is unstable. “We have tried to talk to her but she is not responding,” Maryam said.

She also requested the nation to pray for quick recovery and health of Kulsoom Nawaz, while she also thanked Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for sending his best wishes for her mother’s speedy recovery.

Earlier on Sunday, it was reported by a private TV channel that Nawaz and his daughter would return to Pakistan from England on a flight scheduled on 8 pm.

The ARY News claimed Sharif and his daughter bought tickets of Qatar Airlines to fly back to Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif is due to face a hearing in Islamabad accountability court on June 19.

Kulsoom underwent multiple surgeries last year to remove lymph nodes after she was diagnosed with throat cancer. In April, her medical reports indicated that her health had worsened after her throat cancer began to spread to the rest of her body. She was shifted to the intensive care unit of the London hospital on Thursday after her condition deteriorated further.

The 68-year-old is currently kept under close monitoring.
