KARACHI – Star all-rounder and former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has “pledged” Rs1.5 million to the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dam fund.
Afridi posted on Twitter that he would be committing Rs500,000 from his side and Rs1 million from his foundation, the Shahid Afridi Foundation towards the construction of the dams.

The former cricketer also lauded the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar’s efforts for setting up the fund and promised to do his part for the country.

Justice Saqib Nisar himself donated Rs1 million to the account. Earlier today officers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government have announced a contribution of their three-day salary to the fund for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

On Monday, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor announced that the officers and jawans of Pak Army, Navy and Air Force would contribute with their two days and a day’s pay respectively, to the construction of the dams.
