Fertiliser prices increase by Rs800 per bag

LAHORE – The local markets in Pakistan saw a surge up to Rs800 in the prices of fertilizers after the newly installed government could not form a regulatory authority to oversee imports, exports and standards in this sector.

According to local media, the ill management caused a hike in the prices of Urea and DAP.  The price of Urea bag reached to Rs 1600 after an increase of Rs 200 per bag while DAP bag reached Rs3500 with an increase of Rs800.

The farmers are worried over this sudden increase in fertiliser prices although the government provides the subsidy on fertilisers.

The government should give some relief to farmers as agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, said a farmer from Rahim Yar Khan, adding that PTI government should form a regulatory authority on the urgent basis.
