Another positive step is taken by W magazine recently as women are seen on the covers but not behind the scenes as fashion industry is a lot male dominating when it comes to production, photography and etc. The latest edition of W magazine is all sorted by women to beat the low gender representation of women. Editor Stefano Tonchi tried to change this by being the only man involved in this edition.
W’s fifth edition of the year was fronted, designed and produced by entirely women. Cate Blanchett covers the issue with her iconic looks and also collaborated as guest editor. She encouraged women and called this edition as ever changing. The title to this edition was give ‘the female gaze’.
It also features Cass Bird, Ava DuVernay, Miuccia Prada, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Katie Grand and Adriana Lima. Is this yet another potential marketing tactic? That only we will know in time till then we all should celebrate these little efforts done by magazines to bring forward women in the industry.
