Govt committed to eradicating polio, says PM Imran

ISLAMABAD – World Polio Day is being observed today across the country to create awareness amongst the public about the hazards of the crippling disease.

In his message on the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan said the government is fully committed to eradicating polio. He said we will achieve a safer, healthier and polio-free Pakistan with the cooperation of our people.

In a tweet, the premier said: “On #WorldPolioDay, I am confident, together with our people, we will achieve a safer, healthier and polio-free Pakistan for our children”.

Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a crippling childhood disease caused by the poliovirus and it can be prevented through timely immunization.

Pakistan is about to completely eradicating the disease as it is fighting against it for the past several years. In the running year, only six cases have been reported so far.
