New political party launched in Balochistan as elections draw closer
QUETTA - A new political party, comprising disgruntled leaders of ruling party, PML-N, PML-Q and independent senators, was launched in Balochistan on Thursday with an aim to protect the rights of the province.

The announcement for the new party, Balochistan Awami Party, was made during a press conference, while Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, lawmakers of the provincial assembly, Balochistan's independent senators were present on the occasion.

The new party has been launched at a time when general elections in the country are set to be held in coming months.

Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar has been appointed as central spokesman for the party while Shoaib Nosherwani will be Balochistan spokesman until party elections are held.

Addressing the media, former senator Saeed Ahmad Hashmi said that a ten-member committee will be formed to hold an intra-party election.

Kakar, speaking on the occasion, said that no compromise will be made on economic and political rights of Balochistan, adding, "We will try to fulfil the expectation of the people".

Earlier, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti had announced last week that CM Quddus Bizenjo will announce the formation of a new political party in coming days. He added that the new party will be different from traditional political parties.

Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, who hailed from Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain-led PML-Q, and Bugti were allies in the PML-N led coalition government in Balochistan.

Later, Bizenjor parted ways with former chief minister Sanaullah Zehri and managed to unite the lawmakers to form a new coalition government. In the successful move, Bizenjo was elected new CM, who later appointed Bugti as home minister.
