Two KU teachers detained in Karachi

KARACHI – Law enforcement agencies detained two teachers of Karachi University on Saturday.

The detained teachers include Doctor Riaz and Mehar Afroz Murad. Reportedly, they were heading to press club Karachi when they were taken into custody.

According to sources, the varsity teachers were going to hold a press conference seeking the release of Dr.Hassan Zafar, an MQM member.

Following reports of their links with MMQ-London, one of their colleagues Naveen Haider addressed a press conference and refuted any association of her colleagues with MQM.

On the other hand, Mustafa Azizabadi, Member of Central Coordination Committee of MQM also clarified that the detained teachers had nothing to do with MQM.

Moreover, MQM-London stalwart Nadeem Nusrat stated that the teachers were not workers or party members affiliated with MQM London and said that they were teachers of Karachi University.

Meanwhile, the LEAs also reportedly took into custody an activist of democratic students federation, Naghma Iqtidar from near the Sindh Assembly building.
