MADRID: Spanish police have arrested three Pakistani men suspected of promoting terrorism and militancy on social media, according to the country’s Interior Ministry.
A ministry statement said the three were arrested on Friday in the northeastern city of Lleida, where they lived together. The ministry said they worked intensively to upload and disseminate videos praising Islamic State armed group executions and suicide attacks, and criticizing Shias. They were also said to make posts about imposing the Sharia in Europe.
The three men, aged between 25 and 31, had gathered a large group of followers in their efforts to spread the jihadist ideology in Spain, the Washington Post reported.
Spanish police have arrested dozens of suspected jihadi activists in recent years.
