Gen Raheel attends golden jubilee celebrations of FWO at Thalian

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday attended the golden jubilee celebrations of Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) at Thalian near Islamabad Toll Plaza on motorway.

The FWO has played central role in spearheading army’s contribution in all nation building efforts.

He expressed that over the years, FWO has developed into a strategic organisation with tremendous capability to deliver projects of national significance.

In addition to numerous hydel and mining projects, construction of KKH, Central Trade Corridor through Waziristan to Afghanistan, Coastal Highway and now over 1000 km’s CPEC roads are some of their landmark projects.

Going into inaccessible areas to connect the remotest parts of the country with mainland, highest quality work in minimum time have been its hallmark.

The COAS felicitated them on accomplishing the unthinkable and vowed for whole army to continue working for security and prosperity of the country, Samma reported.

General Raheel Sharif paid tributes to 1300 officers and soldiers of FWO for laying down their lives during executions of various national projects since their raising in 1966.
