RIYADH (Web Desk) – In Saudi Arabia, 47 people have been executed on charges of terrorism, including the prominent Shi’ite cleric Nimr al-Nimrits.
This was stated in a press release issued by Saudi Interior ministry and read on state TV on Saturday.
The press release said the executed people were involved in attacks on residential compounds and government buildings.
Further, most of those executed were involved in a series of attacks carried out by al Qaeda from 2003-06, it said. Shi’ite Iran has warned that executing Nimr “would cost Saudi Arabia dearly”.
