Hussain Nawaz confirms improvement in Kulsoom s health

LONDON – Hussain Nawaz, the son of former premier Nawaz Sharif, has said that his mother Begum Kulsoom’s health was gradually improving as she had gained conscious and responding through slight movement of limbs.

Detailing the recovery of the former first lady on Friday, Sharif’s elder son said that his mother opened her eyes after a month-long coma on the day Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz left for Pakistan.

‘My mother, Alhamdulliah, opened her eyes. She cannot fully move her limbs and cannot talk but she recognises her family and responds. She can slightly move her head, nods and answers. May Allah help her gain complete recovery,’ added Hussain.

He added that doctors were not committing anything and believed that it would take a lot of time for Kulsoom Nawaz to fully recover.

Hussain continued that his mother was still on the ventilator adding that she had been operated on the throat and a tube had been inserted there.

‘After the cardiac arrest, her vital organs were affected badly, three drug lines were inserted into her heart and kidneys and at the same time her dialysis was happening too,’ expressed Hussain, who has been declared a proclaimed offender in the corruption references.

Regarding the understanding of political affairs by Kulsoom Nawaz, Hussain said that she does inquire about Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz but the family is not telling her about the current situation in Pakistan.

‘She is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and we are trying our best not to trouble her with news. There is no media or social media in the room where she is and she is not aware of the situation in Pakistan. We don’t want to disturb her,’ said Sharif’s son in a conversation with Geo News.

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was put on life support after she was diagnosed with Lymphoma. She is currently undergoing treatment at the Harley Street Clinic.
