RAHIM YAR KHAN (Web Desk) – Eleven bandits were killed and seven others wounded as police carried out an operation in Machki area of Rahim Yar Khan on Monday, rescuing the seven policemen held hostage on Punjab-Sindh border safely.
The abduction of policemen at a checkpost in Ronti area Sunday morning drew a serious notice from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Security officials said the police team resorted to gunship shelling using choppers for safe recovery of the hostages.
The rescue operation was carried out by Ghotki and Rahim Yar Khan police.
According to senior police officials, around 30 members of Chooto Bakhrani and Shiltoo gang had attacked the checkpost and taken police officials hostage including an assistant sub inspector and a head constable to resist an operation going on in Rahim Yar Khan for the past 20 days.
