NA-4 by-election: MML backs independent candidate
Peshawar - Milli Muslim League (MML) on Wednesday, has announced support for an independent candidate running for NA-4 by-poll. By-election in NA-4 is scheduled for October, 26. MML to run election campaign has formally inaugurated its office in Peshawar as well.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by MMLs President Saifullah Khalid, Farooq Khan of Tehreek-e-Nojawanan group and Alhaj Liaqat Ali Khan, the MML backed independent candidate for NA-4.

After the inauguration, party president Khalid announced support for Liaqat Ali Khan. Party chief while addressing people at inauguration said that the by-poll is no longer between political powers but is between the "forces of good and evil, it's between Pakistan and United states and between Pakistan and Narendar Modi's India". He claimed MML to be standing with the good.

The party leader further said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government had ignored the constituency for the past four years and if elected, the MML-backed candidate will address all their problems.

The MML had announced founding a political party on August 7. And although it couldn't register as a proper political party during the by-poll of NA-120 its candidate, Yaqoob Sheikh, managed to bag 5,822 votes and surpassed Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Jamat-e-Islami (JI) and surprised everyone.

MML's role in NA-120 generated a lot of criticism due to its chief's ties with Hafiz Saeed and Jamat-uddawa. MML's chief is son-in-law of Hafiz Saeed, who carries a $10 million bounty on his head for alleged involvement in the 2008 terrorist attack in India.

Last week, the Ministry of Interior had asked the Election Commission of Pakistan to ban MML as a political entity. However, the recent inaugural of MML's office in Peshawar and its political activities are a question mark.
