Five more women attacked with knife in Karachi

KARACHI – In what appeared a challenge to the law enforcement forces, an unknown attacker is free to target women in metropolis wherever he wants.

In a latest series of knife attacks late Wednesday, five more women were injured in Karachi within three hours at different locations.

A 12-year-old girl was attacked with knife at Gulshan Chowrangi, while a 13-year-old was stabbed in the back in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.

According to the police, the assailant wielding a knife also targeted two women in Gulshan-e-Jamal area and near Dalmia road.

A university-going student also sustained injuries after she was attacked by the unkown near NIPA Chowrangi.

Since September 25, a total of 13 attacks has been reported, but the police is unable to trace the single man.

On Wednesday, the police registered the First Information Report (FIR) of an attack on a woman named Shaheen following the request of her family.

An investigation officer is of view that attacker is not mentally ill as all attacks have been managed properly by him.

The police through a CCTV camera footage got an image of the attacker wearing helmet. “The suspect is a thin man, aged between 20-29,” DIG East Sultan Khawaja said.
