ISLAMABAD The Supreme Court on Monday granted conditional permission to Bol News for airing Aamir Liaquat’s TV show ‘Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga‘.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar heard the case and imposed the condition that content aired on the show be devoid of hate speech.
According to Dawn News, the bench further said a complete video of the episode and the content contained therein must be submitted to the office of the additional registrar (judicial). It warned that stern action would be taken on violating the court orders. All high court orders regarding the issue are now suspended.
The court announced the decision after a hearing on appeal of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) against the Islamabad High Court (IHC) verdict last week which suspended the Pemra ban.
The Pemra had issued a notification calling for a ban on Liaquat and the show on January 27 after the controversial host came under fire on social media for alleging civil society activists and bloggers who had ‘disappeared’ after alleged blasphemy.
