ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakistan Airlines Pilots Association (PALPA) president Captain Amir Hashmi on Wednesday announced to call off the week-long strike of PIA pilots in session of Senate’s standing committee on aviation.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting Hashmi said we have ended the protest on guarantee of the committee chairman to resolve the issues in two days. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials have have also assured the committee that the demands of PIA pilots will fulfilled till Friday, he said.
During the meeting chairman standing committee Senator Talha Mahmood ruled that CAA and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) should sit with PALPA to resolve the matter with in two days. He also asked officials to present a detailed report in this regard in next session of the committee.
The pilot association has been demanding immediate replacement of Director Flights Operation, immediate withdrawal of all show cause notices, inquiries/ investigations and legal notices issued to pilots on disciplinary grounds and reinstatement of all grounded pilots, and fixation of seniority of pilots as per the wishes of PALPA.
More than seventy flights of PIA including 30 international and 45 domestic flights were cancelled during the week long protest of PALPA.
