Al-Qaeda South Asia chief among nine terrorists arrested in Karachi

KARACHI – The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh police claimed to have arrested nine suspected terrorists, affiliated with al-Qaeda and other banned outfits.

“The arrested terrorists are involved in attacks on police stations and on MQM MPA Manzar Imam”, SSP CTD Omer Shahid and in-charge CTD Raja Umer Khitab said this during a press conference on Friday.

Chief of Al-Qaeda South Asia in Karachi, Faizur Rehman aliases Abdullah and Danial was also among the arrested terrorists.

“The second-in-command of Al-Qaeda South Asia in Karachi was also arrested along with terrorists from the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and a target killer”, police officials added.

CTD officials said suicide jackets, bombs and other explosives were recovered from those arrested.
