Herald takes down its Person of the Year 2018 poll and here is why
@HeraldPakistan Person Of the Year 2018 @ImranKhanPTI— Oranxaib 🇵🇰 (@oranxaib) December 4, 2018
Why Nominations For #Mafia's#MalikRiaz is #LandGrabber ?#KhadimRizvi is #Anarchist ?#ManzoorPasheen is #Traitor ?#NawazSharif is #Thief & #OustedPM ? #IndianDawnHerald pic.twitter.com/tEYifJeR06
People are questioning the fact that Khalai Makhlooq is also an option but WHY?
Some people went a little too far though we must say.
Justifications were given as to why Khadim can be on the list.
Not really. It’s about the person who had the most influence/impact. For example, Putin & Trump have both won Time magazine’s person of the year.— Bilal Lakhani (@MBilalLakhani) December 5, 2018
As a consequence to the nominations that were not taken well by general public, the Person of the Year poll of 2018 has been taken down without confirmation if it will be put up back this year or not.
Dear readers,— Herald (@HeraldPakistan) December 7, 2018
The Herald has decided to take down its Person of the Year survey from the Internet. We have been using a three-way system – a survey on the ground, an online opinion poll and a panel of 10 experts – since 2013 to choose our Person of the Year. 1/3
This year the online poll has led to an unprecedented hate directed towards the magazine, deeply dividing public opinion and making the entire process controversial. 2/3— Herald (@HeraldPakistan) December 7, 2018
It is never the Herald’s intention to sensationalise, incite hate or promote bigotry. And it is for this reason that we have decided to not conduct the online opinion poll this year. We apologise to our readers for the inconvenience. 3/3— Herald (@HeraldPakistan) December 7, 2018
