Terror bid foiled in Gujranwala, 2 militants held

GUJRANWALA (Staff Report) – Punjab Police has foiled a major terror bid in Gujranwala and arrested as many as two militants during a joint operation with intelligence agency personnel, said police spokesperson on Friday.

Police held a large cache of ammunition, automatic weapons and suicide jackets during the action, he said.

Meanwhile police authorities have arrested two Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) associates in Peshawar also.

Earlier Pakistani security forces successfully foiled a major plan of terrorist attack on August 14 in Karachi.

According to ISPR, terrorists planned to use an explosive-led vehicle and motorcycle for terrorism in the port city on Independence Day.

Swat Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan commander Amir Bakht Zaman was also among those arrested.
