Condemnations pour in from home and world after deadly Mastung bombing

ISLAMABAD – At least 128 people, including Balochistan Awami Party candidate Siraj Riasani, were killed while more than 120 others injured in a suicide bombing in Mastugn, a city in the southern Pakistani province of Balochistan.

Following the deadly attack, condemnation started pouring in from Pakistani leaders and foreign countries expressing sorrow over the loss of lives.

President Mamnoon Hussain and caretaker Prime Minister retired Justice Nasirul Mulk have strongly condemned terrorist attacks in Mastung and Bannu.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa condemned the heinous terrorist attack in Mastung and exprssed grieved on the loss of precious lives.

The United States condemned the latest act of violence in Pakistan, terming the attacks as “cowardly attempts to deprive the Pakistani people of their democratic rights.”

“The United States strongly condemns this week’s attacks on political candidates and their supporters in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces of Pakistan. These attacks are cowardly attempts to deprive the Pakistani people of their democratic rights,” US Department of State spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a statement.

“We grieve with those mourning the victims and hope for a rapid recovery of those injured. We will continue to stand with the people of Pakistan and the broader South Asia region in their fight against terrorism,” the statement added.

The European Union also condemned the deadly suicide blast and urged for swift justice for the victims of the attack.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation secretary-general also expressed sorrow over the incident and condoled with the families of the victims.
