HBO isn’t done with Game of Thrones. The cable network already has one Game of Thrones prequel starring Naomi Watts in the works. And now they’re about to add another. According to several reports, this prequel will focus on the history of the Targaryen family.
HBO will soon be closing the deal on a pilot order for a prequel set 300 years before the events of the flagship series, which follows the origination and the end of House Targaryen, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
Martin, who wrote the “Song of Ice and Fire” novel series on which HBO’s eight-season “Game of Thrones” was based, is writing the scrity along with Ryan Condal, according to the reports. Martin has not yet completed his book series.
The series has apparently been in the works at HBO since last fall, but nothing is official yet. This is one of three confirmed Game of Thrones spin-offs that Martin himself confirmed back in May. The title of the series is yet to be announced.
Game of Thrones came to an end with a controversial eighth season in May and the reaction to the final season was not very positive among fans.
