ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appeared before the National Assembly on Monday to answer questions on the Panama Papers leak that linked his family to offshore wealth.
The Senate and the National Assembly will resume their sessions at the Parliament House in Islamabad tomorrow after a two day hiatus.
The Senate will resume its session at four in the afternoon while the National Assembly will meet at 5:00 pm. Both the Houses will discuss important national issues and carry out legislative business.
The prime minister is scheduled to announce some necessary steps to ensure transparent probe into the Panama Papers issue and offshore companies, Radio Pakistan reported.
Both the treasury and opposition are expected to hold separate parliamentary meetings to discuss the agenda of the session.
Previously, Nawaz Sharif said he will present himself and his family for accountability and announced the formation of a judicial commission on the demand of the opposition.
‘No disturbance’
PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi has ensured that his party will not make disturbance of any sort during the PM’s speech in the National Assembly.
The opposition is awaiting PM Nawaz’s arrival in the National Assembly to discuss the Panama Papers issue, the PTI leader said, adding that government representatives will also be asked questions pertaining to the matter.
Qureshi said that no slogans shall be raised by PTI members during the PM’s speech.
The PTI leader has also called a meeting of the joint opposition at 3pm in the Opposition chamber prior to the NA session to devise a strategy in order to address the issue at hand.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) also announced that it will not cause any disturbance during the address of PM’s in the National Assembly.
