Minister discusses measures to spur Islamic Tourism in Punjab

LAHORE – Provincial Minister for Tourism and Sports, Rai Taimoor Bhatti presided over an important meeting to review progress on Islamic tourism at the Tourism Office here on Monday.

Representatives of different departments put forth different proposals for the promotion of Islamic tourism, problems relating to starting of bus service along with its solutions for the facilitation of pilgrims.

The Minister stated that in order to ease access of pilgrims to different holy places, encroachments will be removed as well as parking and other problems will be resolved forth with so that pilgrims along with women and children should not face any problem and difficulty in this regard.

Provincial Minister Taimoor Bhatti directed that wheel-chairs should be arranged for the disabled pilgrims and ramps should also be built on shrines so that those facing physical disability can also have easy access to the shrines.

He told the meeting that Islamic Tourism has been started from Lahore while later this project will be introduced across the province including Multan. He also directed to provide security to the pilgrims, provision of clean drinking water, neat and clean toilets and other related facilities should also be provided and incomplete work should be completed at the earliest so that people should not face any difficulty.

Provincial Minister Taimoor Bhatti stated that the Punjab government is determined for the promotion of Islamic Tourism. MD PTDC Tanveer Jabbar, officers of Auqaf, Transport, Urban Unit, Metropolitan Corporation and Archeology Department also attended the meeting.
