Passengers in tears as PIA s online system crashes

RAWALPINDI – Passengers who booked flights with the national carrier were left stranded at the airports on Friday after the online system of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) crashed all over the country.

The process of issuing boarding cards to passengers at the airports came to a halt due to system’s failure, Dunya News reported.

The bug in the system also caused a delay in domestic and international flights, reducing the passengers in tears.

According to PIA officials, efforts are being made to debug the system and restore services all over the country.

In January, the PIA’s online ticket booking system broke down on, leaving the national carrier to suffer loss in sale of tickets and delay in flights.

The SABER, a US-based airline ticket booking system, had been down for hours and boarding passes were issued manually to passengers.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the ticket booking system’s link went down for a couple of hours which later rectified by the SABER operator.
