PTI files adjournment motion against Chaudhry Nisar over Quetta commission report

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed an adjournment motion in National Assembly against Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan following the report of Quetta commission.

The motion submitted by PTI leaders, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shireen Mazari and Munaza Hussain stated that the one-man commission report released by the Supreme Court had pointed out the ‘monumental failure’ of the interior ministry and provincial government.

It is also stated that corruption of the provincial government and political leadership was one of the major hurdles to combat terrorism in Balochistan. Terrorism could not be overcome unless corruption is eliminated, it further added.

It has been demanded that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan should appear on the floor of the house to clear his stance regarding the imposed allegations.

It is important to mention here that based on investigations into the Quetta incident in which 70 people, most of them lawyers, were killed, the report said that Nisar ‘displayed little sense of ministerial responsibility’ and that there was a continued delay on the part of his ministry to take steps against militant groups and proscribed organisations.
