Indian delegation due today for PIC meet
"The team that will take part in the two-day meeting comprises India's Indus Water Commissioner PK Saxena, MEA officials and technical experts," reported Geo TV.
According to experts, India has violated the Indus Water Treaty by constructing five large dams. The country has plans to construct a total of 262 dams by 2025 on Pakistan and Kashmir's water sources.
The 57-year old pact assigned River Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej to India whereas River Chenab, Jhelum and Sindh were allocated to Pakistan.
As per the agreement, both countries are liable to hold deliberations each year in order to ensure compliance with the treaty and resolve any disputes.
