Muslim couple murdered in Uttar Pradesh after son marries Hindu girl

SITAPUR – In a horrifying incident, a Muslim couple in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur area was beaten to death just because their son married a Hindu girl.

According to the Indian media, Abbas and Kamarunnisha, who lived in the district’s Hargaon neighbourhood, were beaten with sticks and rods by neighbours and family members of the girl their son had married. The couple died on the spot.

According to reports, three people have been detained in this connection. Due to the high level of panic in the community, police presence has also increased in the area.

The couple’s son, identified by the police as Shoukat, was allegedly having an affair with a Hindu girl living in the same town and the two had previously eloped.

Shoukat was detained by the police since the girl was a teenager at that time, and he was subsequently sent to jail. The girl’s family married her off to another man while Shoukat was in jail.

However, after Shoukat was granted bail in June this year, the woman eloped with him once again.

Although police were able to arrest Shoukat again, he was released after the girl, who is an adult now, informed the authorities that she went with him out of her free will.

The woman went back to her parents after Shoukat, who had multiple criminal cases pending against him, was detained again a few days later.

After being granted bail on Wednesday, Shoukat fled with the girl once again.

In reaction, Shoukat’s parents were murdered by angry neighbours and the woman’s relatives.

According to police authorities in Sitapur, an investigation had been launched to find the offenders. Three people have been held in connection with the incident, police said.
