ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Senior journalist and anchor Absar Alam has been appointed new chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
NA’s Standing committee on Information and Broadcasting interviewed 38 candidates including Islamabad IGP Tahir Alam, Zafar Abbass and Iftikhar Ahmad Mir but selected Iftikhar Alam.
Even Information Secretary Azam Khan, who is going to retire on October 10, had also applied for the post of PEMRA chairman.
However, the committee found Mr Absar Alam the best person for the job.
Absar Alam will take charge of his responsibilities after Ashura.
