ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The United Kingdom has affirmed its continued support and cooperation for social sector projects in Pakistan.
The assurance came during meeting of British High Commissioner Philip Barton and Country Director of Department for International Department Richard Montgomery with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The High Commissioner said that the recent visit to Pakistan by Minister for International Development, Desmond Swayne further enhanced Britain’s interest in economic assistance programmes for Pakistan.
DFID Country Director appreciated five billion rupee increase in the BISP allocation as announced in the budget for the current year.
The Finance Minister said the government had a strong resolve to restore complete normalcy and added there would be no compromise regarding the ongoing operation against terrorists and extortionists.
