2016 Asia Cup: Sri Lanka defeat UAE by 14-run

MIRPUR (Staff Report) – Sri Lanka won the second match of main round of 2016 Asia Cup against UAE by 14-run, played at Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) captain Amjad Javed decided to field after winning the toss against Sri Lanka.

UAE fielded the same XI that took on Oman in their last qualifier match in Fatullah on February 22. Sri Lanka were boosted by the inclusion of regular T20 captain Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews, Rangana Herath and Nuwan Kulasekara after they missed the T20 series against India earlier this month.

Sri Lanka picked all-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya, while leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay did not find a place in the playing XI.

The match begins. The first game of the mega event was played between India and Bangladesh when the first won by 45 runs.
