Election violence: One killed, 3 injured in firing between PTI, ANP in Swabi

SWABI – At least one person was killed and three others injured after rival political groups opened fire at a polling station of Swabi in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

A brawl erupted between workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Awami National Party (ANP) outside a polling station in Colonel Sher Khan Kalan, where a person succumbed to bullet wounds.

However, three people were also injured in the exchange of fire at the polling station of NA-19 in the village. The deceased man is said to be a worker of the PTI.

Following the incident, security forces reached the site to control the situation, while injured have been shifted to a hospital for treatment.

In NA-19, Usman Khan is contesting elections on the PTI ticket, Waris Khan is from the ANP, while
Maulana Atta ul Haq is in the election battle from the MMA.

Millions of registered voters are heading towards polling stations to cast their votes as Pakistan goes for its 11th general elections, paving the way for the second democratic transition.
