Pakistan adopts resolution over violence against women

ISLAMABAD (Online) – On the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women, the National Assembly passed resolution against violence against women with clear majority.

Pakistan People’s Party’s Shazia Marri moved the resolution during Wednesday’s proceedings.

The House turned into a fish-market when treasury bench raised objections.

SAFRON Minister Qadir Baloch asked the PPP to expunge word “Pakistan” from the resolution, upon which the opposition members from both PPP and PTI started protest.

After negotiations, the deputy speaker allowed voting on resolution which was passed by majority.
