Fact Check Has Justice Mansoor Ali Shah Been Appointed Next Cjp

ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Law and Justice has denied issuing any notification for appointment of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah as next Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP).

The ministry has issued a clarification in this regard and termed the notification “fake”.

“Notification that is being circulated regarding the appointment of justice Mansoor Ali shah, senior judge of supreme court as chief justice of Pakistan is fake. Ministry of law and justice didn’t issue such kind of Notification,” read the clarification.

Justice Shah is the senior most judge of Supreme Court after incumbent CJP Qazi Faez Isa. He is likely to replace outgoing CJP next month.

Earlier this month, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said Justice Mansoor Ali Shah would be the next chief justice of Pakistan (CJP).

He also believed that they will be able to win over JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the proposed legislation that allows establishment of “constitutional courts”.
