Ihc Bars Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University Form Announcing Mdcat Results

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday barred the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) form announcing the MDCAT results.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of the IHC announced the verdict. The court issued the notices to the health ministry and other parties for Sept 26.

Students who appeared for the MDCAT for medical admissions have filed a petition for a retake. The petition, filed by six students, including Ammar Naeem, Shahzaib Wazir, and Saba Iman, names the federal government through the Health Ministry’s Secretary, the President of PMDC, the Vice-Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, and the Chairman of the National Medical and Dental Board as respondents.

The petition claims that out of 200 MCQs, 26-27 were out of the syllabus, which shocked the students. Additionally, the examiner took back the question papers after the test, which should have remained with the students. Due to irregularities in the MDCAT, both students and their parents staged a peaceful protest, asserting that the authorities failed to maintain transparency in the test.

The petition requests that the MDCAT be declared null and void, and that orders be issued for a retest.

Earlier, the SZABMU vice chancellor constituted a committee of experts to address the issues of students regarding the MDCAT question paper and answer key and sought the report at the earliest.

The varsity also advised the students to submit their queries on the website complaint portal.

On Sept 22, over 21,800 applicants appeared in the MDCAT conducted by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad.

A university spokesperson said, “The exams of this year’s MDCAT for potential Medical and Dental students were held in Islamabad, Azad Jammu Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.”

The official said that 22,557 students applied to appear in the MDCAT exams 2024, and 21,858 students were present for the country’s top medical entry test exam.
