NEW DELHI – A shocking incident of child rape was reported from western Indian state of Gujarat, where a 10-month-old girl was allegedly raped by a man.
Indian police told media that the accused identified as Deepak Kumar Lalbabu Singh, knew the victim’s family. He had visited their home on several occasions and had played with the child before going beyond limits.
The incident was reported from Panoli village when the accused took the baby away from her courtyard while she was playing. The child’s grandmother heard her cries and rushed to find her bleeding and severely injured.
Locals apprehended the accused and handed him over to the police. A case has been registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused has been arrested and further legal proceedings are underway.
