NEW YORK — Pakistan and Turkiye have agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, defense, and security.
This announcement was made in a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The two sides assessed preparations for the upcoming 7th session of the Pakistan-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which is scheduled to take place in Islamabad in near future.
During their discussions, Sharif and Erdogan addressed urgent regional and global issues, particularly the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. They called for an immediate ceasefire and an end to hostilities in the region.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for Turkiye’s steadfast support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir under Indian occupation. In a show of appreciation, President Erdogan praised Sharif’s economic policies, noting their vital role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and commending his commitment to reform.
This meeting marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye, underscoring their shared commitment to regional stability and cooperation.
