Pakistani authorities raised the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel once again, adding another burden for consumers already facing higher transportation and household costs.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy on August 21, 2026, the revised petroleum prices will take effect from August 22. The price of petrol has been increased by Rs3.81 per litre, taking the rate from Rs337.78 to Rs341.59 per litre.
The government has also raised the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs3.59 per litre, pushing it from Rs364.70 to Rs368.29 per litre.
New Petrol Prices
| Product | Old Price | New Price | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol (Motor Spirit) | Rs337.78 | Rs341.59 | Rs3.81 |
| High-Speed Diesel | Rs364.70 | Rs368.29 | Rs3.59 |
The revised rates were determined under the government’s updated petroleum pricing mechanism, with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revising the ex-depot prices in line with the federal government’s pricing framework.
The latest increase means motorists will now pay more for every litre of petrol, while the higher diesel price is likely to have wider implications for transport, logistics and other diesel-dependent sectors.
The new rates are scheduled to remain in force from August 22 through August 24, 2026, according to the official notification.
With both major petroleum products becoming more expensive, the latest move is expected to put renewed pressure on consumers and businesses, particularly through higher transportation and operating costs.
