ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim by telephone on Friday, with the two leaders discussing the regional situation and ways to enhance bilateral trade between Pakistan and Malaysia.
According to an official statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz inquired about Anwar Ibrahim’s health and conveyed his best wishes for his early and complete recovery.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive progress in bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen ties, particularly by promoting trade and investment linkages.
The regional situation, especially developments in the Gulf, also came under discussion during the telephone conversation.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their leadership and efforts in this regard.

Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked his Malaysian counterpart for his continued support for Pakistan’s regional peace efforts.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Malaysia and other brotherly and friendly countries to promote peace, particularly through joint efforts for lasting peace in the Middle East.
The two leaders also agreed to meet at a mutually convenient time in the near future.
Prime Minister Shehbaz invited Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
