LAHORE – A fire broke out at a bank in Shah Alam Market, Lahore, but was quickly brought under control by Rescue 1122 teams and local firefighters.
Officials said the fire started in the bank’s IT room and was extinguished before it could spread, with no casualties reported. Safety and cooling operations were completed to prevent the fire from reigniting.
The incident comes just days after a deadly fire at the Indigo Hotel in Gulberg on January 24, which killed three people, injured five, and forced the evacuation of 275 guests and staff.
Probe revealed that the hotel fire was caused by a gas leak in the basement, while a non-functional automatic fire alarm system delayed evacuation. Authorities had issued a safety notice to the hotel months earlier, which had been ignored.
Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the hotel fire, with further raids ongoing.
