NEW MEXICO (Web Desk) – An Albuquerque, New Mexico man has been charged with murder after bludgeoning his friend to death following a Walking Dead marathon viewing, The Independent reported.
Damon Perry, 23, allegedly attacked Christopher Paquin, 23, with kicks, punches, sharp-edged objects and items including a guitar and a microwave oven, according to police.
The friends had been binge-watching episodes of the AMC zombie apocalypse show, set not too far from Albuquerque.
“Perry told investigators he had been drinking large amounts of alcohol when his friend began to ‘change into a zombie,’” police said in a statement.
The Walking Dead returned for its sixth season this month, with as much bloodshed as ever.
Grants Police detective Moses Marquez described the murder as one of the “weirdest and most gruesome” homicides he had known.
Mr Marquez told Reuters Mr Perry is being held at the Cibola County Detention Centre on a $1.4 million cash-only bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 3.
