LAHORE –A two-day bi-annual meeting between Pakistan Rangers and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) concluded at Pakistan Rangers Punjab Headquarters in Lahore on Thursday, in which both sides agreed to authorize local commanders to resolve minor issues related to border management through enhanced contact and communication at all levels, Radio Pakistan reported.
Participants at the meeting also discussed the issue of expediting repatriation of inadvertent border-crossers and mutually agreed to ensure their safe return. They acknowledged the concerted efforts put in by both the forces to check cross-border smuggling of narcotics and contraband.
Both sides also resolved to continue sharing information and pledged to continue efforts to reduce friction and create an environment for betterment and prosperity of their respective people.
The next meeting of talks series will be held in India in the first quarter of next year.
