‘Altaf minus fromula’ unacceptable for workers: MQM chief

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on early Saturday morning stated that the raid on MQM headquarters at Nine Zero was an attempt to destroy the party.

Addressing a gathering of party workers and leaders at Nine Zero, Altaf Hussain alleged that police brought target killings suspects to Nine Zero and made it look like they were arrested from party headquarters.

The MQM chief said that workers arrested during Nine Zero raid were blindfolded and handled like prisoners of war.

However, Altaf Hussain admitted that MQM leader Amir Khan was among the arrested “but his face was covered during the arrest”.

The MQM chief said that the arms and ammunition confiscated from Nine Zero were all licensed.

“Pakistan Muslim League’s (PML N) worker Gullu Butt vandalized public property but no such raid was conducted at Nawaz Sharif’s residence to arrest the suspect,” he added.

Altaf Hussain termed former MQM member Saulat Mirza’s statements as unlawful saying he was a prisoner on death sentence and the law does not permit this.

Hussain then questioned his workers if they desired to see ‘MQM minus Altaf Hussain’. The MQM workers quickly dismissed the idea chanting slogan in favour of Hussain.

Hussain then diverted his anger towards the media. He stated that the media could only criticise the policies of MQM. “The media should not hurl false accusations or disrespect,” he added.

Hussain stated that things were changing on the international front. He stated that he had a detailed discussion with Pakistan Peoples Party’s leader Asif Ali Zardari.

He also suggested that Pakistan should not jump into the war between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Hussain also lauded the soldiers of Pakistan army involved in Operation Zarb-e-Azb during his address.
