ATHENS (Web Desk) – A harrowing case of gang rape has surfaced in a Greek migrant camp where a group of four Pakistani minors gang raped a fellow citizen.
Police officials have confirmed the incident and arrest of alleged rapists who would be presented before a prosecutor today (Wednesday). The suspects are aged between 16 to 17.
According to the details, the incident occurred on Sunday in the camp of Moria on the island of Lesbos.
Greece is accommodating over 60,000 refugees and migrants stuck in the country after a succession of Balkan and EU states shut their borders earlier this year.Many of the camps are overpopulated, and human rights groups have repeatedly warned that minors must be accommodated separately for their safety.
There are also regular fights amongst refugees and migrants, who are forced to wait for months for their asylum applications to be processed.
No official statement from either country has been released regarding the incident.
