LAHORE – In response to Indian aggression against Pakistani artists working in Bollywood, Pakistani cinemas have been directed to not exhibit any Indian movie in September and October.
Sources close to the development said, Indian movie MS Dhoni:The Untold Story is scheduled to release on September 30 but due to strained relations between both the countries, the film’s display has been suspended in Pakistan.
Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ may come under this move. “The importers have decided to not take rights of Indian movies”, the sources added.
Prominent artists and filmmakers also decided to launch the protest campaign against the exhibition of Indian films in Pakistani cinemas.
Chaudhry Aijaz Kamran, Chairman Pakistan Film Distribution Association said, “we can not allow exhibiting Indian films in Pakistan in these circumstances. In this regards, we have already held a preliminary meeting of the artists and filmmakers in Royal Park”, he explained.
The meeting was attended by various renowned artists which include Mustafa Qureshi, Abid Ali and Ghulam Mohiuddin.
Senior artists said that millions of rupees revenue is shifted to India through the movies hence; the government should take notice.
They also pronounced that Pakistani artists should not undermine the dignity of their country in the greed of money and fame.
