Interior minister takes notice of social media campaign promoting sectarianism

ISLAMABAD – Taking serious notice of spreading sectarianism through social media campaign, Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar directed the cybercrime wing of FIA to trace the elements involved in this crime.

The minister stressed the need of national unity and harmony in order to deal with challenges facing the country.

He called on religious leaders of all the sects to work for inter sect harmony, besides discouraging the elements involved in fanning sectarianism.

He also contacted Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith harmony to chalk out a strategy after consulting with religious leaders to fight the menace.

Army Chief on Sectarianism

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that our enemy after failing to divide us through terrorism is now trying to target people along sectarian and ethnic lines.

According to ISPR press release issued on June 28, the COAS said Pakistan Army is closely observing the sectarian and ethnic colour being deliberately given to the recent spate of incidents by hostile intelligence agencies and sponsored anti state elements.

General Bajwa who interacted with religious clergy of all sects over the last few days assured them that those responsible for Parachinar and Quetta incidents shall be brought to law.

He said they had brought security situation in the country including FATA under control and shall not allow its regression at any cost.
