ISLAMABAD – Former Chairman of Evacuee Trust Property Board, Siddiq al-Farooq has filed a reference against Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Saqib Nisar in the Supreme Judicial Council on Friday.
The senior PML-N leader, in his petition, has stated that a quick action must be taken against the top judicial figure for allegedly receiving a bribe from a contractor of Capital Development Authority, Shakir Ali.
Farooq also alleged Nisar that he had not taken action against PTI chief Imran Khan for submitting illegal No Objection Certificate (NOC) of his palatial Bani Galla residency.
He alleged that the remarks of the top judge on political matters show that he was backing the anti-corruption watchdog (National Accountability Bureau) for its actions against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.
The chief justice CJ had malafide intentions against PML-N and Nawaz Sharif which was expressed in an interview with journalist Javed Chaudhry, stated the reference.
The petitioner demanded an inquiry into the allegations adding that people would lose trust in the judiciary if investigations are not initiated against the top judge of the country.
The chief justice took oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order twice and has not remained Sadiq&Ameen (honest and Righteous), the reference adds.
He also accused the CJP of misconduct with respectable members of society and interference in constitutional rule of law.
Earlier, the CJP in an interview with renowned anchorperson Javed Chaudhry expressed his opinion on the matters relating to the political and national interest which were published in a column.
