ISLAMABAD – Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of Islamabad High Court (IHC) remarked on Friday that the chief justice, Mian Saqib Nisar had no right to insult judges in open court.
Referring to a controversial incident involving Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar and an additional sessions judge in Larkana last week, Siddiqui observed that he wanted to make a heartfelt appeal to the chief justice.
‘The chief justice has every right to dismiss their legal judgments, but they (judges) would come forward if they were not respected to save their institution.

Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar, rebuked the additional sessions judge for his slow pace of work and felt ashamed over the slackness of judicial system.
The incident in question related to additional sessions judge Gul Zamir Solangi, who was admonished in front of the camera for keeping the mobile phone in the courtroom.
The high court judge – who is known for his blunt commentary – also lamented that the entire matter has been turned into a joke, as even not liking someone’s face can lead to insult.

During the whirlwind visit to the Sessions court in Larkana on Saturday last week, the top judge visited different courtrooms for inspection.
When the judge reached the courtroom number 3, he was riled by the presence of mobile phone which belonged to a judge and the apparent obliviousness of the judge regarding the judicial affairs.
The top judge had also summoned Sessions judge to make him aware of what was going on under his nose.
